A BIT ABOUT US
Turning Funding Into Action
Here at Rita K Franke Foundation, we’re committed to investing in Research to better deal with Pancreatic Cancer and Mental Illness. Rita suffered for many years with Schizoaffective Disorder. Later she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and passed away September 2018. Many mentally ill people pass away 10 - 20 yrs prematurely because of their mental illness disease. The association between the two Illnesses is coming to light, and we aim to fund the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for early detection of Pancreatic Cancer and the Florey Institute for Brain, Mind and Mental Illness Research. Both researching to find a better way forward in this silent and disgusting killer disease.
RITA K FRANKE FOUNDATION AT A GLANCE
A Bit of Background
The 'Rita K Franke Foundation' started in 2019, as we had seen there were a lack of charities and foundations that supported funding for Pancreatic Cancer and Mental Illnesses. It was always our intent to help create a better mental health system and since Rita's diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer in November 2017 and it's possible links, we combined the two. We know that more often than not, it takes more than just governments to change the world for a better way forward. It takes individuals to get things moving, people that can see where governments fail, and all that is needed is a little support. Since our founding, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is to bring fresh ideas, new understanding and a willingness to push boundaries in research we’re involved in. Through all of our endeavours we are determined to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does"
